At Esce-tex, our consultancy services bridge fibre strategy, material development, and real-time brand insight. We specialise in man-made cellulosic (MMCF) and recycled next-gen fibres, working across supply chains to develop and deliver fabrics that track.

Our fabric collections are steered by data. What gets adopted, repeated, and scaled. We gather data directly through our established relationships with brands, tracking patterns in adoption to shape the fabrics we develop with our supply chains.

This enables us to develop fabrics that meet performance requirements for innovators and are delivered through responsible, certified supply chains in suitable, and often strategically preferable, production regions.

Alongside this, we also work on focused, project-based developments. These are built around specific briefs and performance targets, from fibre to finish, and can include research partnerships, lab testing, and even clinical validation where required. We develop fabrics that are built to perform for their purpose.

We offer this expertise through tailored consultancy, from one-off fabric briefs to end-to-end development support.

Consultancy: Textile Strategy & Development for a Changing Industry

  • We work directly with fibre producers, spinners, and mills to develop fabrics from the ground up. Our role includes briefing, sampling oversight, technical feedback, and aligning outputs with brand expectations. We translate performance requirements into supplier-ready specifications and stay involved through testing, refinement, and production sign-off.

  • We support clients in sourcing fabrics that meet specific aesthetic, technical, and sustainability goals. Whether you’re looking for certified materials, alternatives to synthetics, or something that fits within a set price point or geography, we can identify options that are viable.

We can also work from existing references, matching or reinterpreting swatches, qualities, or finishes to find more responsible alternatives that align with your brief and end-use.

This service can depend on order volumes and mill minimums, so we always aim to clarify quantities and constraints early in the process.

  • We help brands and innovators shape long-term fibre strategies based on sustainability goals, performance needs, and upcoming legislation. This includes identifying which fibres to prioritise, which to phase out, and how to plan realistic transitions, considering availability, certification, scalability, price, and circularity potential.

  • We help clients understand which certifications are relevant, required, or beneficial for their chosen fibres and materials.

From GOTS, OEKO-TEX®, FSC and TENCEL™ to recycled content standards like GRS, we guide clients through application processes, supply chain traceability, and the claims they can (and can’t) make. Our goal is to keep materials compliant, credible, and commercially viable without greenwashing.

  • We supported the setup of detailed lab testing programmes and consumer studies for performance fabrics. Ensuring testing aligns with both recognised industry standards and the specific performance requirements defined during development.

While we don’t test in-house, we advise on the most relevant testing routes, recommend trusted lab partners, and help shape testing frameworks that reflect the intended function and end-use of each material.

  • We run R&D projects that turn material concepts into commercially viable fabrics. Working directly with fibre producers, yarn spinners, and fabric mills, we lead everything from early development trials to structured testing and refinement.

We build testing frameworks around clear performance and sustainability targets making sure development stays focused, accountable, and relevant to production.

  • We support brands in navigating upcoming EU and UK regulation, including Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and digital product passports. Many of which begin rolling out from 2026 under the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles.

Our guidance focuses on how these policies impact material selection, fibre traceability, data collection, certification, and sustainability claims. We help brands understand the practical implications across their supply chains. Aligning with future labelling requirements to ensuring material-level data can support digital product passport compliance.

This work sits at the intersection of sourcing, compliance, and communication. Helping clients stay credible, reduce risk, and plan for what’s ahead.

  • We work with those innovating in the fibre and materials space to guide development based on what brands are actually adopting, helping turn technical innovation into commercially viable material systems.

Through close relationships with UK brands and ongoing tracking of adoption patterns, we identify where demand is growing and which fibre types are gaining traction. This insight informs early-stage fibre development and subsequently supports mills in aligning spinning and fabric production with brand expectations and sourcing realities.

Whether you’re introducing a next-gen fibre or building out a new supply chain, we help ensure it’s relevant, scalable, and positioned for adoption.
