Meet Mitale: She’s been working at FabricWorks for over 3 years
FabricWorks is an ethical clothing and manufacturer based in East London.
The Social Enterprise provide employment opportunities for women facing multiple disadvantage in our local community, some of whom have been previously unemployed or with no prior work experience.
The women learn exemplary sewing skills, supported by recognised qualifications in sewing and garment construction. They now work undertaking commissions, costed at the London Living Wage, producing for leading ethical brands, like Birdsong.
All of the equipment in the workspace has been given by donation. The cutting tables are not conventional and cause backpains for the women. As an essential and continuously used fixture, we’re raising money to custom build ergonomic and pratical tables.
The MEND’athon fundraiser will also act as a workshop for the women working at FabricWorks. Furthering their skill sets and employment opportunities, whilst raising money to improve their workspace.
